EMHS Weekly Rundown | June 22 - June 25

Greetings Griffin Families,

First of all, Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandpas and caregivers in our school community – we hope that today is a special one for you!  We have come to the last edition of the Ernest Manning High School Weekly Rundown for the 2025/26 school year, and as such will focus on important year-end reminders for our families.

June 26, 29 - Students and/or parents / legal guardians can arrange to talk with staff for report card questions and/or appeal purposes. Teachers are available on June 26 and until noon on June 29.

Student schedules for the 2026/27 school year will be available for viewing in PowerSchool on August 12.

As a complement to all of the detailed information available on the Ernest Manning High School website, here is this week’s rundown.

Book Return

Time to return all textbooks, novels and library resources to the learning commons, or on the carts provided at the entrance to the school during the exam break. All resources are due back by June 26. Failure to do so will result in unnecessary charges to your CBE account.

Locker Clean Out

Reminder to grade 10s and 11s that they will have the same lockers next year and should make note of their combinations.

All students should clear their lockers of personal items although they can be used during diploma exams.

All grade 12 students need to have items removed before the end of the year or they will be bagged up over the summer.

Thanks for your help keeping the food critters away over summer!

JUNE FINAL EXAM INFORMATION

We have two remaining exams this week: Physics 30 on Monday, June 22, and Scienc 30 on Tuesday, June 23.

🟢 What to Bring to all finals

  • Valid Photo ID: Your school ID, driver's license, or passport. The supervisors must verify who you are before you sit down.
  • Approved Calculator: For math and science diplomas. Make sure it is an approved model (like standard TI-84 Plus or Casio series) and that the memory is completely cleared before you enter.
  • Pens and Pencils: Bring HB pencils for the bubble sheets (multiple-choice) and blue or black ink pens if you are writing a written response.
  • An Eraser and Sharpener: High-quality erasers save you from messy, smudged bubble sheets that scanners might misread.
  • A Clear Water Bottle: Most exam centers allow water, but the bottle usually has to be completely clear with the label peeled off.
  • Snacks in a clear bag/ container: enough food to stave off hunger pangs for up to 6 hours

🔴 What NOT to Bring to finals

  • Cell Phones, Smartwatches: This is the big one. Even if it's turned off in your pocket, having it on your person can result in an immediate invalidation of your exam. Leave them in your locker or the coat check-in area in the cafeteria.
  • Any Unauthorized Notes: No scrap paper, cheat sheets, or formula sheets. If the exam requires a data booklet or formula sheet, it will be provided to you.
  • Calculator Covers: You usually have to leave the plastic slide-cover for your calculator in your locker or backpack.
  • Headphones or Earbuds: No music allowed during the exam, as it's considered a potential security risk.
  • Hoodies/Jackets/ Hats: please leave these items in your car, locker or in coat check in the cafeteria.

Pro Tip: Arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes before the official start time. Getting flustered because you're rushing is the easiest way to spike your test anxiety!

LIMITED COAT CHECK – please note that we will have limited coat check availability for backpacks/ hoodies/ cell phones this year due to some unforeseen staffing shortages. Students should make pre-arrangements for their belongings as much as possible.

EMHS Honours Awards

We are proud to share that over 1100 Ernest Manning students earned honours, each with an average of 80% or higher in their courses taken at the school. What an extraordinary accomplishment—and a true reflection of the drive, resilience, and commitment to excellence that defines the Griffin spirit.

Those students who did not pick up their honours certificates can now find them available in the front office.
