EMTV – EM DAILY Weekly
Here is the first installment of Semester 2 of the EM Weekly Rundown from our EMTV students.
CULINARY ARTS
Students (and teachers!) are reminded to pack a lunch for the next two weeks. Our cafeteria food service is also on hold until February 17 as new groups of students learn fundamental skills necessary for food preparation.
PARENT COUNCIL CONNECTIONS
Please consider stepping forward to serve your school community by filling valuable vacant roles on our School Council.

FEBRUARY 18 SCHOOL COUNCIL / PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
The next meeting which is open to all parents and guardians in the Manning community will occur on Wednesday, February 18 at 6 pm, both in-person and virtually. To register for the meeting, please use this link. From the call out for more volunteers we have a nomination for a 2nd co- chair. This co-chair will be voted on at the meeting. JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY
Wonder what it's like to be a police officer? The Calgary Police Service Junior Police Academy gives youth aged 12 to 16 the chance to find out!
Students are invited to an immersive experience into the world of a Calgary police officer, covering various aspects of law enforcement.
Youth will also participate in presentations from front line police officers, the Violent Crimes Suppression Team, and have the chance to learn about the history of the Calgary Police Service. The week concludes with participants marching on parade and receiving certificates.
There are no costs associated with this program. Youth will be selected one month before the session begins and notified via email.
Successful applicants will go through an internal police background check and may have a 10-minute online interview with a member from the Youth Mentorship Team.

CAREERS Internship Fair – Paid Internships for Alberta Youth

The CAREERS Internship Fairs connect Alberta high school students with paid internship opportunities through off-campus education. Hosted by CAREERS: The Next Generation, these events are designed to help students explore career pathways, meet employers hiring youth, and learn how classroom learning can turn into real-world, hands-on experience.
Students and parents are invited to attend these free internship fairs to connect directly with employers from in-demand industries. The fairs provide an opportunity to learn about paid student internships, off-campus education options, and career pathways available to Alberta youth while still in high school.
Why Attend a CAREERS Internship Fair?
Attending a CAREERS Internship Fair allows students to:
- Learn about paid internship opportunities for high school students
- Meet employers actively hiring youth in Alberta
- Explore off-campus education and work-integrated learning pathways
- Discover careers in high-demand industries
- Pre-register for a chance to win door prizes
Parents are encouraged to attend alongside students to learn more about how paid internships support career exploration, skill development, and post-secondary planning.

GRADUATION UPDATES
EMHS Grad Tickets
The 2026 Ernest Manning Graduation ceremony and banquet will both take place on Monday, May 11 at the BMO Centre. Grad rehearsal will take place Thursday, May 7 in the gym. Graduating students will miss afternoon classes.
Grad Ceremony FREE tickets – Forms will be sent out March 16 (Due April 6) Grad Banquet Ticket Sales - Round One (opens March 16), Round Two (opens March 30)
Further details including banquet ticket prices will be announced as plans for graduation evolve. Stay tuned.

Volleyball
- We are proud to announce that Sr. Boys Volleyball Head Coach Diandra Bridges has been named the CSHSAA Volleyball head coach of the year! Coach Bridges has been a cornerstone of the Ernest Manning volleyball program since restarting the senior boys team in 2005. Coach Bridges works tirelessly to organize practices, tryouts, and the Griffin Invitational, while also serving as a volleyball co-chair since 2018 to support and strengthen volleyball across Calgary high schools.

The Horatio Alger Association of Canada offers 150+ scholarships of up to $25,000, awarded during Grade 11 to support early planning.
EMHS SPEED MENTORING MENTORS NEEDED
We are looking forward to our EMHS Speed Mentoring Day on March 19 2026, a day during which students can explore career interests with mentors working in the field (aka – you!). No preparation is necessary on the part of mentors – just your wisdom and experience.
We specifically need folks who can come and chat with students informally about careers in health, finance, law, trades, STEM, the Arts and real estate.
If you or anyone you know is interested in this opportunity to mentor students about potential jobs and careers, please fill out this form.
The deadline to sign up will be Friday, February 6.
